Every QA Role Is an AI Role Now
Look at our job board right now and you'll notice something that would have seemed radical just two years ago: every single posting in the last 30 days touches AI in some meaningful way. Not "AI-adjacent." Not "a plus." We're talking about roles at NVIDIA, HashiCorp, Talkspace, and General Motors where understanding how AI systems behave — and how to break them — is baked into the job description from line one.

- Texas is a hiring hotspot. Houston, Spring, Texas City, Dearborn — energy, defense, and enterprise tech are driving real demand in the South and Midwest right now.

The Skill Gap Nobody Wants to Talk About

Outputs are probabilistic. Edge cases are infinite. Traditional pass/fail frameworks start to crack under that pressure.

- Behavioral testing frameworks that evaluate model outputs against defined personas and use cases rather than exact string matches

Stop waiting for your employer to train you. Here's a concrete to-do list for QA professionals who want to stay relevant:
- Pick up one AI evaluation tool. Spend a weekend with LangSmith or build a simple eval pipeline in Python against a public API. Ship something, even if it's ugly.
- Get cloud-certified (seriously). That GCP requirement isn't going away. AWS and Azure equivalents are showing up constantly. Cloud fluency is now a QA skill, not just a DevOps skill.
- Sharpen your API automation. Rest Assured, Postman, and custom Python/requests setups are everywhere. If you're purely UI automation, you're leaving roles on the table.

We're watching a genuine restructuring of the QA profession in real time. The manual tester role is mostly gone. The script-monkey automation role is next. What's replacing them is something more sophisticated: a quality engineer who understands systems thinking, can interrogate AI behavior, and writes code well enough to build meaningful test infrastructure.
That role pays better. It has more influence. And right now, there aren't enough people who can actually do it.
